The Academy was founded to address two issues. First, the gap in the market created by outstaffing and outsourcing Senior Experts and CyberSecurity Specialists from Africa fully remote, hybrid remote or on-site(EU Region)ly to the international market. Outstaffing and outsourcing result in a shortage of qualified IT professionals available for the local job market. By training the youth in software development and cybersecurity, we create the next generation of experts to enter the local economy, therefore, addressing the future shortage of Senior experts. The second is the need to address poverty and youth unemployment by providing opportunities for disadvantaged youth to access quality educational opportunities for a brighter future.

According to the 2020 UNESCO report, 258 million children and youth were entirely excluded from education, with poverty as the main obstacle to access. The key factors that cause the exclusion of learners in education systems worldwide include background, identity, and ability (i.e. gender, age, location, poverty, disability, ethnicity, indigeneity, language, religion, migration or displacement status, sexual orientation, incarceration, beliefs, and attitudes). The educational exclusion during the COVID-19 pandemic worsened as almost half of the low and lower-middle-income countries have not supported disadvantaged learners during the temporary school shutdown.
